Nov 04, 2005 - 2005/2006 Schedule Announced: The New England Bruins Sled Hockey Program has released its schedule for the 2005/2006 season. Noticeably absent is the Bruin's perennial trip to the Dallas Shoot Out. "Despite our best efforts to schedule early, tournament directors have been delayed in their own planning due to confusion regarding the availability of US Team members to play in their tournaments," said Dale Wide. Bruins Team Leader. "This has had a ripple affect on our ability to plan early and save money." The Bruins prefer to plan trips four to six months in advance which allows for expense control and allows team members, many of whom have families to care for, to plan in advance. Additionally, variations in rules regarding the ability of some of the Bruins team members to participate limited the Bruins' interest in other tournaments. The Bruins will make the trip to New York in February to compete with their good friends, the United Spinal Sled Hockey Islanders and Rangers, in the United Spinal Invitational. They will also do their best to arrange a trip to Montreal in March. The New England Invitational will be held in April and if all goes according to plan, they will travel to England in May to play a few games with British teams. For the first time in several years, there will not be Wednesday night ice time in Dorchester, Mass. Since a majority of the the Bruins players are now coming from Maine and New Hampshire, the Bruins made the decision to move their practice sessions to The Rinks At Exeter, a much more central location in Exeter, NH. They plan to practice twice a month starting November 9th. All practice sessions are from 9:10P to 10:40P. The full schedule may be viewed and bookmarked at www.newenglandbruins.com/schedule. Yet to be scheduled are the Boston Bruins Alumni and other exhibition games.
