Wildcats tangle with United Spinal Rangers December 19, 2004 - The NH Wildcats traveled to Bridgeport, CT on Sunday, December 19th to meet the United NY Spinal Rangers, a team from the New York City area, for an afternoon game. Advertised as a promotional event for sled hockey, the staff at the “Wonderland of Ice” Arena rolled out the red carpet for the game and was rewarded with great performances from both teams. The Rangers drew first blood on a breakaway in the first period and followed it up with an outstanding goal in the second that Wildcat goalie Aguinaldo Luis had no chance at. NH cut the lead to 2-1 on a great team play by NH line mates and New England Bruins line mates, Dan Sousa and Taylor Chace. Sousa gained the blue line and cleverly dropped a pass to Chace. Taylor’s initial shot was blocked but Dan was there to deposit the rebound in the net. NH had many chances to even the score as NH winger Jessie Nelson was denied on two breakaway opportunities and Chace hit the post with a shot in the early third period. Kevin Hosier and Crystal Chalich anchored the Wildcat’s defense and played on both lines for most of the game. In the end, however, the Rangers added an insurance goal and held off the NH attack for the rest of the game. Overall, Wildcats Coaches Tom Carr and Ed Clark were pleased with how the team played and are encouraged by the progress that the young team has showed so far this season. | ||||||||||||||||||
